KTH Live-In Lab and KTH FoB is inviting you to a virtual research talk.

Do the indoor climate conditions of classrooms affect student performance? We invite you to a talk by Nicolas Duran, Piet Eichholtz, Nils Kok, and Juan Palacios (Maastricht University and MIT) about their working paper entitled “Indoor Air Quality and Student Performance”.

Since little is known about whether investments in the physical condition of schools translate into better student achievements, the authors conducted a large field study in 139 classrooms in the Netherlands. They employ continuous sensing technology (temperature, CO2, fine particles, humidity) over three school years and use the Dutch standardized primary school testing system to measure learning outcomes. Indeed, they find that indoor climate conditions at the time of testing also affect student performance.

The researchers present their current stage and looking forward to comments and insight from different disciplines from academia and industry. The setting allows for discussion of the topic during and after the presentation.
